Last autumn, we shared a video of our CEO, Dan Harper, interacting with his boat through the Amazon Alexa. We're excited to share that this functionality is now available for all Siren Marine users! Now you'll be able to check on your boat without even lifting a finger.
Read on to learn how to sync your Alexa to the Siren Marine App!
Step 1: Open the Skill Store
The first step is to find the new Siren Marine skill in the Amazon Skill Store. Open the Skill Store and enter "Siren Marine" into the search bar.
Step 2: Enable the Siren Marine skill
Step 2 is to make the Siren Marine skill go live. Once you open the skill from the Skill Store, you'll see a big blue button that reads "ENABLE". Click away!
Step 3: Link your Siren Marine account
The next step is to link your Alexa device to your Siren Marine account. When you click the "ENABLE" button, you will be automatically redirected to the Siren Marine App, where you can enter your account information.
Step 4: Select Your Boat
The last step is to select which boat to link (if you only have one boat under your Siren Marine account this step will be pretty easy!).
Step 5: You're all set! Enjoy using Alexa voice commands to monitor your boat!
The Alexa App does require some specific language to interact with your boat.
One rule to keep in mind is that every command begins with "Alexa, ask Siren Marine _____".
To hear a full list of available commands, say, "Alexa, open Siren Marine".
To get a full status update on your boat, simply ask, "Alexa, ask Siren Marine for the status of my boat." or "Alexa, ask Siren Marine how my boat is doing." (The key is to include "Siren Marine" so Alexa can properly query our app).
To receive updates on specific systems, such as the battery, just ask, "Alexa, ask Siren Marine how my battery is doing." You can interchange any system that you have hooked up, such as shore power or bilge.
